Are Markets Actually Open?
by Alex King
Today is a watching-paint-dry kind of day. There aren’t usually too many of those. Equity indices are mainly flat, the 10yr yield is up a little but nothing dramatic, oil up a touch, etc. Yawn. Now, boring days in a bull market are a good thing. Thursday and today the market had an opportunity to dump after the CPI rally, in order to take the money from all the late bulls who bought in post CPI, but no such dumpage has occurred. That too is bullish. More than that I am not sure there is much to say save to head to our usual charts.
As always we cover all four primary US equity indices (the S&P500, Nasdaq-100, Dow Jones-30 and Russell 2000); bonds (TLT), volatility (the Vix), oil (USO) and sector-specific ETFs. We provide long- and short-term insight daily and we include coverage of leveraged ETFs which - if you have gotten sharp at the rotation and hedging methods we teach - can be used to very good effect. All of this features daily in the pay version of this newsletter.
