Tomorrow’s Crisis Is ...

… DRAM pricing. Meaning, tomorrow it’s Micron ($MU) earnings day. In case you’re not familiar with Micron, it’s one of the three most important companies globally that produce memory chips, and it’s the only such US vendor with any scale. Technology products, as you may have noticed, require an ever-increasing amount of memory, and that memory has to have faster read/write performance every few months. AI, the latest generation of computing methodologies to require a performance upgrade, eats memory, particularly high-end memory products. So even if Micron stock dumps, as it is wont to do for no particular reason, the unit shipment and unit demand story that Micron tells the market is relevant to the market at large; and the pricing story they tell matters too.
Well, that’s tomorrow, and we’ll be writing up MU earnings for our paying members here. But before then, let’s take our usual look at the equity indices, bonds, oil, volatility and such.
